Earlier this month The Globe and Mail published a story of mine about winter bucket list experiences across the country. The only thing more terrible than reading inane comments is replying to them, because a: we’re actually advised not to and b: it doesn’t accomplish anything other than boiling one’s blood pressure. However, if I were to reply, here’s what I would say:
Within your own province, I guarantee there’s an extraordinary, bucket list experience that’s ready, finally, for you to tick off. No more excuses. Welcome to the Summer of Local.
For all the comments that Australia is Canada with better weather, I discovered this is not at all the case. For Canada Day, the guy who wrote the bestselling books about travel in both Canada and Australia muses on why Canada is not Australia.
Anyone who spends time in one of Canada's national parks is bound to feel something: A sensory appreciation for the natural beauty; achievement for a physical pursuit like hiking, climbing, kayaking or biking, and a re-connection to our pristine forests, mountains, rivers, valleys and plains.
