Located outside of Terrace, Northern Escape Mountain Lodge is your gateway to bucket list heli fishing on tributaries along the Skeena and Copper rivers. With a birds-eye view above dense hemlock and cedar forest, you’ll see streams literally boiling with migrating fish: pink salmon, coho, and if you’re lucky steelhead. Experienced guides will help with the rods, and provide tips so that you’ll be able to cast, reel and spey like a pro. It’s all catch and release, and there will be a lot of catching and releasing! Anglers fly in from the US, Europe and around the world for this once-in-a-lifetime experience among rugged mountains, forest and water For fly fishing enthusiasts, you can’t beat the combination of stunning nature, exclusive access, and abundant fish.

Cost: Price starts at $499 per room in low season, and includes airport transfer: gourmet Meals (3 plus afternoon Après), snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Tacking on heli-fishing is extra, contact the lodge for inquiries.

Best time to go: Peak season is July and August.

Where to Stay: Opened in 2020, the Northern Escape Mountain Lodge is located deep in the rugged Skeena Mountains overlooking a glacier-fed alpine lake. This off-the-grid, boutique wilderness lodge offers guests a true luxury experience and is perfect for couples, small groups and families wanting an intimate, relaxed atmosphere in nature.

Getting There: Terrace BC is served by several daily direct flights from Vancouver. Northern Escapes meets you at the Terrace Airport for a short 45 min shuttle to the Mountain Lodge. For an additional fee, we can arrange a helicopter flight through the spectacular Skeena Mountains directly to the Lodge’s doorstep.

Note from Robin: There’s a lot more to do at the lodge other than just heli-fishing. It’s your launch-pad for a bucket list jet boat ride along the Skeena, visiting abandoned mining ghost towns, e-biking forest trails, and all-round BC wilderness adventure. During winter, the 10-room lodge becomes a base for one of the world’s very best heli-ski operations, with snow-cats ready to go on bad weather days. Summer or winter, you’re in very good hands.
