Snowshoe in the Rockies

Immerse yourself in a mountain winter wonderland, with this guided snowshoeing (and occasional ice-walking) adventure deep into the scenic jewel of the Rockies. Removed from the crowds of summer, stroll along snowy valleys and trails only accessible in winter, marveling at panoramic mountain views. You’ll spend three nights in a backcountry lodge, ice-hike the Johnston Canyon, snowshoe over frozen lakes, exploring Lake Louise and Kananaskis Country, and a traffic-free Icefields Parkway. A moderate fitness level will see you through the 5km – 14km days, with no experience necessary.

Note from Robin : Anyone can snowshoe, and if you've never done it before, it will quickly seduce you. Wearing your favourite boots, you clip into crampons that support your weight on even the deepest snow. Experienced snowshoers can bring their own gear. The surroundings are peaceful and quiet, the views gobsmacking. There is one serious uphill challenge as you hike up to Gibbon Pass (about a 460m elevation), but the views are well worth it. The historic Shadow Lake Lodge is a fantastic and cozy base to explore the surrounding backcountry.
